PewThePieXX (born 1999-2002) is a former Swedish YouTuber, comedian and gamer who was, at one point, considered Zalzar's greatest companion. An enigmatic figure, not much is known about him other than him being the greatest fan of Zalzar ever, vociferously defending his title against Internet trolls. Some companions have expressed how difficult it is to determine whether Pew is a genuine Zalzarian zealot, or one of the most convincing satirists in Internet history. This is due to what has been described as a "surreal lack of quality" in his videos, with audio and video quality gradually eroding throughout his career, and his unreasonable belligerence towards the rest of the fandom. Despite the artistic value of his channel, he failed to garner a significant following and retired in August 2015.

Pew is a controversial figure in the Zalzar community due to his strong idolization of the YouTuber, and the vitriol he directed at other companions who he felt threatened his title. Pew during his career believed Zalzar to be a godlike being, a personal belief expressed fully in his video COUNTER STRIKE!!! KILLS FOR ME EVERYWHERY!!!!!!!! YouTubers such as Wes, MikaelPlays, and Jerejoe were victims of separate online harassment campaigns by Pew, eventually eroding his standing in the community. Despite his brazen persona, Pew had shown his willingness to put his past behind him, attempting to remove the contents of several Zalzar Wiki pages relating to his many scandals.

Early career[]

PewThePieXX opened his YouTube channel on October 22, 2011. The origin of his online moniker was a deviation from YouTuber Felix Kjellberg's handle, 'PewDiePie'. According to Pew, his strong dislike for Kjellberg comes from his belief that he came up with the name first, expressed in his public repudiation of the 'bro army', Kjellberg's fanbase. The adversarial nature of Pew's channel towards Kjellberg and other large YouTubers became a fundamental aspect of his channel's branding, alongside his close relationship with Zalzar.

Pew's video library consists of a combination of Let's Play videos, animation shorts, critical commentaries, reaction videos and unauthorised television clips. The eclectic variety of Pew's videos is typical for amateur YouTubers, who use the website less to build a career, and more for recreational purposes. He had a particular affinity for horror and sandbox games, seen with his focus on Five Nights at Freddy's, Slender and Minecraft content. Videos surrounding this games in particular were very common amongst gaming YouTubers from 2014-15, effectively saturating the market and no doubt contributing to his failure.

Pew quickly gained notoriety for his passionate support for Zalzar and polarising nature within the community. His most viewed public video, Five Nights At Freddy's 3 [DEMO GAMEPLAY], was the subject of critical reception due to its poor quality, receiving 6,800 views since September 2020. The video reached a dislike ratio of 88.46%, greater than the controversial release trailer for Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. This pattern of constant critical reception is seen across his entire videography, most prominently from the extremely low quality of his content. Pew neglected to use a capture card for his Let's Plays, only beginning to use one with his FNAF video in 2015. Pew was either unaware of, or uncaring about, the excessive gain on his audio, which caused it to be unreasonably loud and distorted.

Controversies[]

Feud with SpeedoSausage[]

Pew briefly attracted the ire of the entire YouTube animation scene by publishing a critical commentary about SpeedoSausage (now known as speedoru) in 2013, titled SPEEDO SAUSAGE RANT!! In the video, Pew criticized SpeedoSausage and other YouTubers for lacking skill and tact, qualities he believed Zalzar possessed much more of. Due to the inflammatory nature of the video and its use of clickbait, it received approximately 500,000 views before it was either made private or removed by Pew sometime in 2013 and/or before March 2014.[1] Being the most forgotten part of Pew's career, coupled with the feud being short-lived and all evidence of it being inaccessible, details of the event are scarce and mostly based on user recollection.

Feud with Wilka Ekman and other companions[]

As Zalzar attempted to interact with and collaborate with his companions, Pew felt like he struggled to obtain acceptance and acknowledgement from him. During this time, a YouTuber called Wilka Ekman (under the moniker Wes) was quickly gaining popularity in the Zalzar fandom as a prominent artist and reactor. Pew became put off at the fact that such a new YouTuber could achieve fast success, and one day he wrote a mean-spirited comment on one of Ekman's videos. That comment started a long-lasting feud between the two, lasting as long as Pew was active. In 2017, allegations were made by Ekman that Pew had committed copyright infringement in his video Five Nights At Freddy's 5 ANIMATION!!, plagarizing assets from Ekman's DeviantArt profile. As Pew's video does not fall under fair use due to its lack of criticism or transformation of the content, Ekman maintains a viable legal case against Pew. However, whether or not this will be seen as necessary is yet to be determined.

Aside from Ekman, Pew has trolled many other companions. Pew's feud with Mikael Rosberg, or MikaelPlays, is long and protracted: Rosberg had been a long-time critic of Pew for allegedly stealing Zalzar's format and branding, and in response Pew launched a large trolling campaign against him. In 2015, Pew accused YouTuber Jerejoe of "kissing Zalzar's ass"; in response, Jerejoe deleted his comment.

Murder of Red Bull can[]

On June 7, 2014, Pew uploaded a graphic video titled Die RedBull, depicting the torture and execution of a Red Bull can. As the song Sierra Leone by Mt. Eden plays in the background, the video shows Pew in a grassy field being recorded by his brother, taking a glancing hit at the Red Bull can with a bow. The video cuts to a view of an aerosol can and matches bearing the logo of the European Union, which he then uses to torture the can by burning it and eventually inducing its structural failure. Incapacitated, Pew then takes a sledgehammer (and later a long unidentified metal object) and fatally wounds the can by striking it repeatedly, while slow-motion footage of the murder is being played. At the end, Pew declares:

Get pwned, Red Bull! Monster is the fucking shit, my companions.

and;

Zalzar is going to be so proud of me.

Believed to be an attempt to gain Zalzar's attention, Pew's video received unprecedented pushback from the Zalzar community. While it is a known fact that Zalzar dislikes Red Bull, the unjustified killing of a Red Bull can in his name was viewed with universal scorn from all commentators. Pew's video is one of the few graphic videos on YouTube to be affected by the website's increasingly stricter measures to prevent the publishing of such content; this may be due to the relative obscurity of Pew's channel, or a possible attempt to mask the content of the video by playing dubstep in the background. Despite this, Pew's high profile connection with Zalzar quickly diminished as his reputation was decidedly ruined.

2014 identity theft incident[]

In 2014, Zalzar was the subject of identity theft by an anonymous figure, known in the community as 'the hacker'. In response, Pew started targeting the hacker and accusing him of being inauthentic and dishonest. The hacker did not appreciate Pew's comments, and published a video of him and Zalzar battling Mikaelplays and PewDiePie. This was done so it would look like Pew was the culprit of the hacking. Alarmed by this development, Pew attempted to appeal to the United States government with a petition published on Change.org, an online petition website. The campaign failed with only 2 supporters.[2] Up until his retirement, Pew defended his title as Zalzar's greatest companion, despite his ostracization by the community.

Facebook banner art controversy[]

Main article: Edowado#The incident

On April 11, 2015, a Facebook user named Edowado uploaded fan art of Zalzar to Zalzar's official page. It was met with great praise due to its unexpectedly high quality. Zalzar had been so impressed by the art piece that that he used the drawing as not only his Facebook banner, but his Twitter banner as well. Many companions became envious of Edowado's artistic skills; however, on July 2 of the same year, a skilled detective companion discovered that Edowado had committed art theft, stealing the illustration from a DeviantArt user named Sakimichan and applying the necessary edits to it. Upon this revelation, Zalzar was mortified. He still had the banner up in hopes of this claim not being true, however Zalzar soon replaced both banners on September 23. The new fan art for the banner was made by companion artist FletchFeather. Edowado soon deleted his Facebook page when his art theft was discovered.

While not directly attributed to Pew, the "Edowado incident" is widely suspected to have been perpetrated by him to gain Zalzar's attention. Despite a lack of evidence, it is not impossible that Pew could have orchestrated this controversy, as his willingness to steal art was demonstrated in the aforementioned incident with Ekman.

Decline[]

Despite his notoriety amongst the Zalzar fandom, Pew could not maintain the views, likes and subscribers necessary to keep his interest in his career. Despite creating a diverse selection of content, it failed to appeal to a wide audience. After the release of Five Nights At Freddy's 5 ANIMATION!! on August 2, 2015, Pew went inactive and has not been seen since.

Personal life[]

Schizophrenia and disassociative identity disorder[]

Some companions believe Pew suffers from schizophrenia, a psychiatric disorder which impacts one's perception of reality; and disassociative identity disorder, which is characterized by the maintenance of at least two distinct and relatively enduring personality states. Supposed proof of this theory comes from his animation videos where he collaborated with Zalzar and other animators. While there are other people doing animation in the video, the Die Redbull video only depicts two people: Pew, and his brother.

Despite the lacking foundation for this argument, this theory sees moderate acceptance amongst some companions. Some theorists go further to suggest that it was only Pew who participated in every video, so that he could feel more secure with his other personalities. According to theorists, the names of all his personalities are Albin, Linus, Anton, Tom and Kevin. The biggest proof that these names are connected are via the murder of Kevin Berggren, a high-profile international murder case which is believed to have been perpetrated by Pew.
